About DARK
Where is DARK lighting made?
DARK lighting is designed and manufactured in our own facility in South Africa, using both subtractive and additive engineering under one roof. Our subtractive capability includes CNC lathe, CNC press brake, CNC fibre laser and CNC router; our additive (3D-printing) capability spans SLS, FDM and SLA technologies. Combined with in-house powder coating and wet-paint spray booths, this means we take a fitting from raw material through to finished product ourselves — controlling quality, finish and detail at every stage, and giving us the engineering capability to build to specification when a project demands it.
Is DARK a manufacturer or a reseller?
DARK is a manufacturer and design house. We design and engineer our own lighting and produce it in our own facility, with the capability to manufacture to specification for projects.
What makes DARK different from imported lighting brands?
With over 25 years of lighting experience and our own local manufacturing, we control quality and detail, offer shorter lead times than imported ranges, quote in rand, and can build to specification for projects — which catalogue-only importers can’t.
Buying & Lead Times
How do I buy DARK lighting?
Browse the range on getdark.co.za and submit an enquiry on any product, and a consultant will assist with pricing, availability and specification.
What is your lead time?
Standard pieces from our catalogue typically ship within 4–6 weeks, depending on the size of the order. Larger or project-scale orders are scheduled to suit the programme.
Do you deliver across South Africa / Africa?
We deliver nationwide across South Africa and internationally.
Bespoke & Projects
Can DARK make custom or bespoke lighting?
DARK offers an extensive catalogue developed over more than 25 years of lighting design and manufacture, and we recommend specifying from the range wherever possible — it means proven quality and shorter lead times. For larger projects, we can develop bespoke or made-to-order pieces where the quantity supports it.
Does DARK supply hotels, restaurants and commercial projects?
Yes. DARK works with major hospitality groups and supplies lighting for hotels, restaurants and commercial spaces across the region, working with designers and project teams on specification and bespoke development.

Can I request a sample?
Samples can be arranged for projects that require formal approval, subject to the scale of the specification. Speak to our team about your project.

Are DARK products suitable for South African electrical standards?
DARK lighting is made for South African conditions — 230V supply and local fittings — with compliance handled at manufacture.
What materials does DARK use?
DARK works with a range of quality materials including 316 and standard stainless steel, brass, acrylic, glass, ABS and polycarbonate, and oak and white ash wood — finished in our own powder-coating and wet-paint facilities.
